Located in Chicama, Peru, Puerto Eten is a fun beach break that offers up some fun waves for all abilities. There are also a couple of more advanced peaks, located just south of the pier over some rocks. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (about 328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Puerto Eten?
Puerto Eten gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures hit 25°C (about 77°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temps drop to 21°C (about 70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
