Located in Chicama, Peru, Pimentel is a fun pier break that offers up some rippable but fat waves when the conditions line up. The waves here can be a bit tricky to surf (beginners should stick to the reforms) and will break for up to 200 meters (about 656 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Pimentel?
Pimentel gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is very consistent (9/10) and will never be too crowded (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures hit 25°C (about 77°F). In the winter, a spring suit is best when water temperatures drop to 21°C (about 70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
