More on Puerto Cayo
Located in Guayas and Manabi, Ecuador, Cayo is a quality stretch of beach break that offers up high-performance A-frames on the right conditions. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. Access is difficult, but it keeps the crowds down.
What are the best surf conditions for Cayo?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard, and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
