Located in Texas, Quintana is an alright beach setup that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here require some skill to surf well and break for up to 100 meters providing usually mushy longboarding sections, but good steep sections when a big East swell comes.
What are the best surf conditions for Quintana?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the swell picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and can get a little busy when the swells are hitting (5/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and East. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 30 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is best when the water temperatures drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
