Located in Texas, Octagon is an alright beach setup that breaks over a sandy bottom. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some mushy sections for longboarders, although it can get peaky on the inside at times for the short boarders.
What are the best surf conditions for Octagon?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard most days and a shortboard if the conditions line up. The break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and there will be a crew on it but a very friendly one (3/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 30 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is best when the water temperatures drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
