Looking at the beautiful photos online, and the reviews, (and the price), I thought this hotel was going to be fantastic and the highlight of my stay in Bali – however I was disappointed. I stayed at other hotels in Canggu (cheaper ones) and I was so looking forward to reaching the Slow. However, as soon as I got there, I was underwhelmed.
Don’t get me wrong – there are definitely positives: the staff are SO FRIENDLY and couldn’t do more for their guests. The decor is also cool and the design is the selling point.
However:
– All the furniture in the room is uncomfortable – the couch, the bed. Such a let down. The room screams relaxation, and when you go to lie down to relax, you’re left feeling so stiff and uncomfortable. The bed is springy.
– The stairs up to the top rooms look as if they are cracking.
– Unlike other hotels, the cost of the room does not have any inclusions (eg laundry/breakfast/anything from the mini bar). While this isn’t a deal breaker, it is nice to feel as if you are getting value for money with at least some inclusions.
– There is no communal pool. If you can’t book a room with a pool, you will not be able to swim at the hotel.
– The hotel is very noisy. While the hotel did disclose that the hotel could be noisy being on the street, and did provide earplugs – it is uncomfortable to have to wear earplugs on your stay and the noise again disrupts the relaxing vibe that the hotel tries to promote.
Overall:
The staff were fantastic, but in terms of the balance – expected more from a luxury hotel.
