Located in Moray Firth, Scotland, Banff Beach is an alright beach break that offers up fun performance sections when the conditions line up. The waves here are not always easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Banff Beach?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. this break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (5/10) and will usually be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and Northeast. Works on a low to mid tide best and is protected from SW winds.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 here in the summer when water temperatures rise to 13 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is necessary when water temps drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
