Found right in Perth, Western Australia, The Spot is an excellent rocky reef break. The waves break to the left, and are challenging and sucky, but can break for up to 100 meters, serving up barreling sections that can deliver some shade from the bright Aussie sun.
What are the best surf conditions for The Spot?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding your longboard, standard shortboard, or step up when bigger here. The Spot is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers due to its shallow rock bottom. The surf here usually breaks (5/10) and can get ridiculously crowded due to its proximity to Perth (9/10). The best winds for The Spot are East. The best tide mid to low. The best swell direction is from the Southwest.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in summer with the water temperature a pleasant 21 degrees in February. In winter we recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit with temps being a brisk 16 degrees! See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
