Once again, an excellent reef break in the Cactus, South Australia area. Crushers is a left that breaks over a shallow rock shelf right across the channel from Supers. The waves are difficult to surf, breaking for up to 100 meters offering up walls for turns and carves.
What are the best surf conditions for Crushers?
Crushers gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend a longboard for when it’s small and a shortboard or step up when the size comes. This wave is best for intermediate and advanced surfers. It is semi-consistent (5/10) and hardly ever crowded (3/10) as most will surf elsewhere on the same swells. The best winds come from the Northeast. A low tide with a swell from the South, Southwest, or Southeast will turn the reef on.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer with the water temperatures hitting 21 degrees in February. In winter a 4/3 is recommended with temps dropping to a chilly 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
