Located in East London, South Africa, Bonza Bay is a decent beach break set up that offers up some powerful peaks when the right swell hits. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Bonza Bay?
Bonza Bay gets good between chest-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 25°C (77°F). In the winter, a spring suit might be necessary as water temperatures drop to 20°C (68°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
