Located in Sitka Alaska, Good Rats is a fun right-hand reef break that offers up some rippable walls on the right day. The waves here require some skill to surf and the spot is remote so make sure you are being safe. They break for up to 150 meters over a rock reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Good Rats?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard when smaller and a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the West. Works on a mid-tide only.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 year-round with hood and booties. The temperatures range from 12 degrees in August to 4 degrees in winter. See the temperature chart for more data on this.
