Located in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Praia da Cal is a quality right-hand point break that offers up some classic, rippable walls for the crew that will be on it. The waves here require some skill to surf and will break for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. On the inside, there is a decent beach break. Best suited to beginner to advanced surfers.
What are the best surf conditions for Praia da Cal?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 24°C (75°F). In the winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 13°C (55°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
