Located in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Capao da Canoa is a pretty decent beach break that offers up 18 km of open peaks generally oriented to turns and airs. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Capao da Canoa?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded due to its length (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 24°C (75°F). In the winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 13°C (55°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
