Located in Maui, Hana Bay is a decent beach break that offers up some easier waves with some fun sections for manoeuvres. The waves here are not hard to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. Only gets easterly trade swell which is always around, so often waves but bad winds.
What are the best surf conditions for Hana Bay?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will get busy at peak times. The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the East and Northeast. Works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 27 ad 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
