Located in Washington State, Half Moon Beach is a decent beach break that unloads over a boulder and sand-covered bottom. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters throwing up some great barreling sections, usually to the left.
What are the best surf conditions for Half Moon Beach?
Gets good from head high to double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here due to the steepness of the wave. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is generally uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the East or Southeast and the best swells are from the West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 year-round here. Water temperatures rise to 12 degrees in August and then drop to 7 degrees in winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
