Located in South Carolina, Springmaid Beach is an O beach break that is basically a shorebreak onto a sandy beach. The waves here can be tricky to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing some barrels when good. Restrictions on surfing next to the pier.
What are the best surf conditions for Springmaid Beach?
Gets good from waist high up to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is generally crowded in summer (8/10). Best winds are Northwest. Best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 28 degrees. In winter a 4/3 is best when temps drop to 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
