Located in Central North Oregon, Otter Rock (known as the Waikiki of Oregon) is a fun beach break that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 200 meters providing some long rolling sections perfect for cruising.
What are the best surf conditions for Otter Rock?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. A fish or longboard will work well here most days and a shortboard will be alright when it gets big. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfers, have fun! The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and is generally busy on weekends but the vibes are mellow (5/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells come from the Northwest, West, and Southwest. Works best on a medium tide.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer here when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when temps drop to 10 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
