Located in Ocean County, New Jersey, Meters is a decent beach break with a sand bottom. The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf (read: drop then barrel) and break for up to 100 meters providing fat, hollow, powerful sections for the tube fiends.
What are the best surf conditions for Meters?
Gets good between head high and overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard only here due to the steepness of the wave. Intermediates and advanced surfers will have success here, beginners not so much. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and is insanely crowded in summer, empty in winter (8/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells come from the Southeast. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 24 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 when the water temps drop to 5 degrees. See the temperature chart for more data on this.
