Located in Ocean County, New Jersey, Casino Pier is a great pier break that peels both left and right on both sides of the pier for up to 100 meters. The waves here can be tricky to surf and usually are fast and barreling. Watch out for insane crowds inside and outside of the water, this pier is a major tourist attraction and the wave is consistent enough to be a zoo most of the time. The right on the south side is a bit more high performance than the left on the north side.
What are the best surf conditions for Casino Pier?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. A longboard is fine when small but a shortboard is the play when there is size. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (7/10) and is almost always packed (10/10). The best winds are offshore from the West, although the break is well sheltered from side and onshore winds. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Either the left or right will be good at any tide.
We recommend wearing either boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 24 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 wetsuit is required to surf when the water temperatures plunge to 5 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
