Located in Cape May, New Jersey, Stockton is an excellent groyne setup that peels over a sandbar bottom. Some waves here can be a bit tricky to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing barreling sections when good.
What are the best surf conditions for Stockton?
Gets good from waist high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if small, but a shortboard when it gets good. Intermediate and advanced surfers will have the most success here, not a beginner spot most days. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and can get super crowded especially in summer (9/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 25 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is best when the water drops to 4 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
