Located in New Hampshire in New England, Costellos is an OK reef setup that breaks over a shallow boulder bottom. The waves here are difficult to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing some decent sections for manoeuvres. Watch out for some dry rocks in the lineup, usually something better nearby.
What are the best surf conditions for Costellos?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here most days due to the sucky take off. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is almost always uncrowded (3/10). Works best in West winds. The best swells come from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. High tide spot only.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is necessary for the 4-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
