Located just North of Boston in Massachusetts, Good harbour beach is an OK river mouth wave that breaks over a rock and sand bottom. The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf but often closed out. They break for up to 50 meters providing some excellent sections for manoeuvres.
What are the best surf conditions for Good Harbor Beach?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size steps up. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is not consistently good (3/10) and is almost always uncrowded (3/10). Even if there are some people in the water the locals are very nice. The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, Southeast, and Northeast. Works best at low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 20 degrees in August. In winter a 5/4 is the key to survive in the 3-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
