Located in Northern Maine, Scarborough Beach is a quality beachie that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some great sections for cut backs, hacks, and carves.
What are the best surf conditions for Scarborough Beach?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when bigger here. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfer depending on the size of the swell. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is almost always uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is necessary for the 3 degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
