Located in Northern Maine, Fortunes Rock is a fast beach break that peels over a sand bottom. The waves here break hard and fast for about 50 meters, throwing out some sucky barrels perfect for a quick tube ride.
What are the best surf conditions for Fortunes Rock?
Gets good from head high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here always due to the steepness of the drop. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will usually have a crowd on it (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is necessary for the 3-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
