Located on the East coast of Florida, Walton Rocks is a fun reef setup that breaks over dead coral and rocks. The waves here are peaky but can be tricky to surf, breaking for up to 100 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres. Be aware that the water will be warmer here due to the discharge from the nuclear power plant. Apparently, it is perfectly safe to surf in though.
What are the best surf conditions for Walton Rocks?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here most days and a shortboard when the size steps up. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will usually have some heads on it (7/10). Offshore winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Northeast. Works best on medium to low tide but watch out for rocks.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 29 degrees. In winter a spring suit will be fine in the 22-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
