Located on the East coast of Florida, Bethune is a quality beachie, breaking over a sand bottom. The wave breaks for 50 meters right in front of a seawall that can create some interesting backwash. The waves break hard and hollow, which can be very good or very bad. Either way, it will give you a beating.
What are the best surf conditions for Bethune?
Gets good between chest high to overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here (or a foamie). The wave is suited to all levels of surfers that want to have some fun. The surf here is not super consistent (4/10) and can get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the East, North, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on high or low tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 29 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is best when water temps drop to 18 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
