Located in Humboldt County, California, The Lagoons is a series of four lagoons and a long beach that offers up some peaky beach break when the conditions line up. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over sandbars formed by the lagoon outflow. Watch out for sharks and strong currents.
What are the best surf conditions for The Lagoons?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides depending on the sandbars.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 here year-round. Water temperatures range between 9 and 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
