Located in Humboldt County, California, Cape Mendocino is a pretty decent beach break that offers up some fun sections for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Needs very little wind and a small clean swell to work, which it rarely does.
What are the best surf conditions for Cape Mendocino?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here almost never lines up (2/10) and will be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 here year-round. Water temperatures range between 9 and 13 year round. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
