What are the best surf conditions for South Beach?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend a longboard here when on the smaller side and a shortboard when it is a bit bigger. South Beach will have something on offer for all levels. the beach is more sheltered toward the northern end, with smaller waves and less wind. The surf here is pretty consistent (5/10) and can get busy on weekends in the summer (5/10). The best winds are offshore from the Northeast. The best swells are clean and from the South and Southwest. Works best on higher tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 wetsuit year-round here. The warmest temperature in the summer is 12 degrees and the coldest temperature in winter is around 11 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
