Located in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, Southern California, 72nd Place is a decent beach break that crashes over a sand bottom. The waves here can be a bit funky, breaking for up to 50 meters and providing sections for manoeuvres.
What are the best surf conditions for 72nd Place?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead we recommend riding a shortboard here, especially when it gets good. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is not consistent (4/10) and will have some people on it when it is on (7/10). Offshore winds from the Northeast and good swells from the South or Southwest will serve up the goods. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when the water temps rise to 19 degrees. In the winter we recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit when the water temperatures drop to 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
