Located on Kodiak Island, Alaska, Mill Bay is a fun reef break that offers up a barreling peak when the conditions line up. The inlet funnels all swell in and concentrates it onto a rocky reef that breaks for up to 50 meters.
What are the best surf conditions for Mill Bay?
Gets good between head high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is best for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will generally be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Northeast. Works on a low tide best for barrels.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 year-round with hood and booties. The temperatures range from 12 degrees in August to 4 degrees in winter. See the temperature chart for more data on this.
