Located in Severn Estuary, Wales, Southerndown is not a bad beach break that offers up some decent sections for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Southwest and West. Works on a low to mid tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. More...
