Located on the Gower Peninsula in Wales, Hunts Bay is a fun but rare reef break that offers up good sections for performance surfing. The waves here are fairly straightforward to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a rocky bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Hunts Bay?
Gets good between head high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here when it starts working and a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is not consistent (4/10) and won’t be crowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest and West. Needs a mid to large sized swell to start working. Best tides are mid and high.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best as water temps drop to 8 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
