Located in Southeast Scotland, Peterhead is an excellent left reef break that offers up a bowling, hollow ride when the conditions line up. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a rock reef. Watch out for the healthy seal population in the area, especially when it is mating season. There are some beach break peaks South of the reef.
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here sometimes has a wave (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. Works More...
