Located in Yorkshire-Lincolnshire, England, Cayton Bay-Pumphouse is a fun left reef set-up that offers up some steep waves for manoeuvres as well as the occasional barrel. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf well and break for up to 150 meters over a boulder-covered bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Cayton Bay- Pumphouse?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat inconsistent (4/10) and will generally be crowded when it is breaking (8/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the East, North, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 here in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temps drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
