Located in Southwestern England, Southbourne is an OK beach break that offers up some shore break barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Waves break best in between the groynes, watch out for bodyboarders.
What are the best surf conditions for Southbourne?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here due to the suckiness of the wave. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here does not break very often (3/10) and will be crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the East, South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works on low tides best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when temps plunge to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
