More on Newquay – Great Western

Located in Newquay, England, Great Western is a fun beach break that offers up some great sections for manoeuvres and at times hollow almost-closeouts. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Very crowded in summers.

What are the best surf conditions for Great Western?

Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer, but best for beginners in the summers. The surf here isn’t the most consistent (4/10) and will get very crowded at times (8/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
