Located in West Cornwall, England, Gwithian is a fun beach break that offers up a more sheltered option than Godrevy to the north. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Gwithian?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will have space to spread out whoever is in the water (4/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 will work for the 9 degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
