Located in Cornwall/Devon, England, Whitsand Bay is a fun peaky beach break that offers up some good performance oriented sections. The waves require some ability to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. Lots of surfers but the length of the beach spreads them out. Access can be limited due to the military zone nearby.
What are the best surf conditions for Whitsand Bay?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and due to its length it is easy to find a quiet peak (4/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
