More on Menakoz

Located in the Pais Vasco, Spain, Menakoz is a world-class reef break that offers up some gnarly barrels for the peril-inclined. The waves here require absolute commitment and break for up to 100 meters over a shallow rock bottom. The bottom is sharp, drops are vertical, currents are strong, and waves thunderous. Don’t disrespect the locals and you’ll be alright.

What are the best surf conditions for Menakoz?

Gets good from 12 foot up. A step-up at the minimum or a gun are the required equipment here, no tow-ins are allowed. This break is suitable only to advanced and professional surfers. The surf here is not consistent (2/10) and not crowded although the locals are pretty hardcore (3/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West.
