Mundaka and Surf forecast

Located in the Pais Vasco, Spain, Mundaka is one of, if not the, best river mouth waves in the world. This break is formed by a ruler-straight, triangular sandbar groomed by the river that flows by an idyllic Basque fishing village. The wave breaks left, fast and hard. The sucky take-off leads straight into a deep barrel section which opens briefly for a couple of turns before throwing up two more barrel sections on the inside. The waves here break for up to 200 meters and the bottom is sandy. This break is challenging to surf and heavy. The bottom is shallow and the currents are strong, on a good day it is a struggle just to stay in position.
