Located in the Ericeira area, Portugal, Foz do Lizandro is a river mouth that offers up good lefts for performance surfing when the conditions line up. The waves here can be tricky to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. The water quality here can be iffy, but the crowds go elsewhere.
What are the best surf conditions for Foz do Lizandro?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will always be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19 degrees. In the winter the water temps only drop to 14 degrees, making a 3/2 all you’ll need then as well. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
