Located in West Oaxaca, Mexico, San Augustin is a decent beach break that offers up some fun waves once in a while. It’s pretty easy to surf here and the waves break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Needs a big South swell to work at all.
What are the best surf conditions for San Augustin?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard if it gets bigger. This spot is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
