More on Bungan

Just south of Newport is Bungan. Access is via a long walk down the hill from either end of the beach after parking near the walkways. The walk is about 200m down a steep hill and then back up at the end. This walk and limited parking tend to keep the crowds down. Paddle out is not too hard, just keep an eye out for the odd rock in the corners.

Waves can get good at Bungan but they do depend on the banks. Often a fun wave can be found at the north end in a NE swell and offshore winds. Also worth a look during smaller swells as it does tend to be a bit of a swell magnet.

Keep an eye out for a good right-hander off the rocks in More...
