More on Redhead

Located in Newcastle, New South Wales Redhead is a fun, sandy beachbreak as well as a good rock and sandy reef left hander on the northern end of the beach. The waves here can be difficult to surf do to the power on tap, but they break for up to 100 meters providing great sections for turns and carves.

What are the best surf conditions for Redhead?

This spot gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard, shortboard, or step up when it gets bigger. Redhead is suited for all levels of surfers depending on the swell. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) but will be busy on weekends (5/10). Redhead works on all tides, the best winds are the Northwest, and the best swell directions is from the Northeast.
