Located in Sitka, Alaska, Red Tree Reef is a decent reef break that throws out an A-frame peak when a big SW comes to town. The waves here can be a bit tricky and break for up to 100 meters over a lava rock reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Red Tree Reef?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break very often (3/10) and will be uncrowded (2/10)/ The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 year-round with hood and booties. The temperatures range from 12 degrees in August to 4 degrees in winter. See the temperature chart for more data on this.
