Located in South Carolina, Folly Beach Pier is a fun pier break setup that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some great sections for turns and hacks.
What are the best surf conditions for Folly Beach Pier?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will generally have some folks around (6/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works well on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 29 degrees in August. In winter we recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit with temps dropping to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
