Located in Northeastern Florida, Ponte Vedra is a quality beachie on its day that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here can be a bit challenging when it’s on and break for up to 100 meters providing some fast, wally sections. The estuary nearby can attract more than the usual amounts of sharks.
What are the best surf conditions for Ponte Vedra?
Gets good from head high to double overhead, and needs a big swell. A longboard will work here most days, but a shortboard is best when the size picks up. This break is suitable to all levels of surfers. The surf here gets good once in a while (4/10) and can get busy when it is good (5/10). The best tide is low to mid. The best swells have some angle in them, coming from the North, Northeast, and South. Offshore winds come from the Southwest.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 28 degrees. In winter a 4/3 is necessary when water temps drop to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
