Located in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, Cotillo is a fun beach break that offers up some peaky waves perfect for turns and hacks. The waves here can be a little tricky at times and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Cotillo?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and can get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northeast, North, Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides depending on the sandbanks.
We recommend wearing a springsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 22 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temps drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
