Located in Southern England, East Wittering is a 4-mile beach with average waves but offers up some easygoing sections great for beginners and longboarders. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. The groynes along the beach help keep the sand in place. Popular with kite and windsurfers.
What are the best surf conditions for East Wittering?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here hardly breaks (2/10) and can get busy with the local crew and people travelling from London (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast, but onshore will generally increase the size. The best swells are from the East, South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works on high tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 8 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
